Perhaps you have heard that exercise boosts energy, but you might wonder, how is this possible if you need energy to exercise? How can moving more give you more energy? It might sound crazy, but it is proven that expanding energy by doing exercise increases energy in the long run.

Normally when people feel fatigued, the last thing they want to do is exercise however engaging in exercise will help to boost energy and feel better. Why? When you exercise your cells produce more mitochondria “known as the powerhouses of cells”
1 Having more mitochondria increases your body’s energy supply.

Additionally, when you exercise, your working tissues get more oxygen and nutrients. This makes your cardiovascular system work better and more efficiently which improves your heart and lung capacity and provides more energy to your whole body.

Another reason is that when you exercise your body increases the levels of Endorphins, often called the “feel-good” hormones. They are known to produce feelings of happiness and pleasure, and they also raise energy that helps us to perform and move.

Exercise improves sleep as well; a better sleep helps with your overall health and gives you more energy during the day. A study published in Journal of Sleep Research2 showed that a minimum of 150 minutes of moderated physical activity can reduce insomnia and increase mood.

To conclude, exercise will help you feel better and have more energy! Next time you feel low in energy grab your tennis shoes and do some physical activity!
